I was told recently that my stories are bad because they contain too few words and that if I were a decent author I could easily make any of my stories thousands of words long. In case you have an equally hard time as I in believing that, let me run it past you again. Someone told me that my stories are bad because they contain too few words. Never since middle school has the amount of words that I wrote ever seriously been used as a measure of the quality of my written work. And never once has anyone (who was qualified) seriously even suggested to me that the amount of words in a work of prose is in direct relation to the quality of it. I

If you're an artist then you probably did. A lot. But - past the age of three - did you ever think about how walking works? I had one of those moments you get when training martial arts where you rediscover something you already know. Or thought you already knew.
